VR DRIVE
An interactive educational tool for youth in Westport, Ireland, VR Drive runs users through a driving tour of the town center, a hazard course, and an ECO-drive challenge that demonstrates how aggressive gas/braking behaviors impact fuel consumption. The tool provides young drivers with experience facing real world driving situations in a virtual environment and demonstrates how safe driving practices also help conserve fuel.
VR Drive features a custom build of UC-win/Road software with a unique GUI, driving scenarios, and a town model of Westport created from LiDAR data and photo textures. The software can be interacted with using a gaming wheel and pedals on a standard PC or a multi-display driving simulator.
